Safeguarding.

Coaching work in schools means safeguarding is non-negotiable. Here is how I work, what I report, and what I do not.

Most coaches do not publish a safeguarding statement. If your practice touches schools, you should.

1. Scope of this statement.

Infinity Learning provides coaching, training and consultancy to adults — school leaders, MAT directors, NHS managers, business owners. Direct work with children or young people is not part of the practice. This statement covers our duties as an adult-facing service that often works within school systems.

2. Our duty.

As a service operating in the education sector, we work in alignment with:

  • Keeping Children Safe in Education (the DfE statutory guidance, current edition) where engagements involve schools or MATs
  • The Children Act 1989 and 2004
  • The Care Act 2014 in relation to adults at risk
  • Working Together to Safeguard Children guidance

Hiral Kelly has completed safeguarding training appropriate to her professional roles in schools (most recently, [— DATE / PROVIDER]).

3. What we will report.

If during a coaching session a disclosure is made suggesting:

  • Significant risk of harm to a child
  • Significant risk of harm to a vulnerable adult
  • Risk to the client own life
  • A safeguarding concern within the client school or workplace that may not yet be known to the Designated Safeguarding Lead

— we are bound to report this through the appropriate channels. Where the client is themselves a senior leader in education, we expect them to report concerns through their own DSL and Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO). Where this is not possible or appropriate, we will report directly.

4. How we will do it.

  1. Name it in the room. We say out loud that we are hearing something that may need to be reported and will pause to think with you about what to do.
  2. Wherever possible, support you to report it yourself. A leader making their own safeguarding report is almost always the right outcome.
  3. If you cannot or will not, we will. We will tell you we are doing this — not afterwards.
  4. Document the disclosure and the action taken in line with KCSIE guidance.
  5. Continue the coaching engagement unless doing so becomes inappropriate.

5. What we will not do.

  • We will not act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead for your organisation.
  • We will not investigate concerns — we report them through the right channels.
  • We will not promise that information shared in session is exempt from safeguarding duties.
  • We will not discuss reported concerns with your line manager, school, or trust unless legally required to.

6. Working with you as a leader.

For headteachers and senior school leaders, coaching often surfaces the weight of safeguarding decisions. We hold that weight with you — we do not take it away. Our role is to be a confidential thinking partner; yours, as the leader, is the actual safeguarding responsibility.

7. If you have a concern about us.

If you have a safeguarding concern about how Infinity Learning has handled a disclosure, or about Hiral conduct in a coaching context:

This statement is reviewed annually or whenever statutory guidance changes. Last reviewed 14 May 2026.
